Gabriele Hasler
voice, words, composition
Gabriele Hasler studied at the Berklee College of Music, Boston, USA, and others. Since the early eighties she has performed with several ensembles and band projects in Europe, South Asia and North Africa.
She combines elements of free improvisation, jazz and avant-garde creating a truly original, individual as well as contemporary style. She writes poetry of her own but also often draws on modern poets such as Gertrude Stein. Her vocal performance can be regarded as a process of exploring the limits of the human voice.
As a soloist Gabriele Hasler has been invited to work with several larger ensembles (e.g., with symphony orchestra). She composed for large church choirs. She can be heard on 25 CD/LPs and has a record label of her own called Foolish Music.
With her solo performance “G.bete 365” she was invited to the LEM Festival, Barcelona and to the Festival of the Museum Vostell, Malpartida, Spain.
Her solo Album “im bauch der vokale” got a reward from the Deutsche Schallplattenkritik (2013).
2016 she released the album „fundstücke“ with Günter Baby Sommer (LAIKA Records).
Her album „Herden und andere Büschel“ (LAIKA Records) was released in fall 2020 and got a reward from the Deutsche Schallplattenkritik (2021)
